Celebrity Skin: Anastasia Griffith

This month Anastasia Griffith is sharing her skincare routine and favorite products with us. Anastasia is starring in the highly anticipated new action-packed NBC drama “Trauma”, premiering on Monday, September 28th. Set in San Francisco, “Trauma” promises an intense look at one of the most dangerous medical professions in the world: first responder paramedics. Anastasia is starring on “Trauma” as first responder paramedic, Nancy Carnahan. I can’t wait to check it out!

I happen to be a big fan of Anastasia’s work in the role of Katie Connor on the FX drama series “Damages”. I was hooked on “Damages” from the very beginning! It’s such an amazing show and Anastasia, opposite Ted Danson and Glenn Close, really showed off her talent as an actress in that role. Great show, great role, great actress! And now…her skincare routine. Enjoy!


What is your skincare routine?

I am pretty low maintenance with my skincare routine. I believe that what you put into your body has the greatest effect so generally if I want to pay attention to my skin I will do some sort of a detox using lots of vegetable juices, raw foods and lots and lots of water. My skin always looks amazing after that. But my daily routine usually involves either a foaming cleanser or a milk one (I switch between the two), followed up with Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair and Clarins Multi-Active Day or Night Moisturizer.

What are your favorite products?

Clarins for moisturizers and tanning lotions. Estee Lauder for a facial serum.

What’s in your purse?

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream and a Bliss hand cream

How do you pamper your skin?

Eminence Organic Stone Crop Gel Wash, Kiehl’s Soothing Gel Masque or Dermalogica Intensive Moisture Masque and a Triple Action Organic Scrub by Sonya Dakar once a week.

Do you have a favorite spa?

I have a favorite spa in every city I have ever lived in! I love this place called Banyan Citispa on West Broadway in NYC. They do great, inexpensive treatments and offer a sauna and steam room for your use too. I find saunas are the best way to flush toxins and water retention away so they do wonders for my skin. In San Francisco I have found a great place called Dtox Day Spa in the marina. Therapeia is also good for massages and facials. And in London I tend to go to Bliss or the Sanderson Hotel if I really want to pamper myself. Los Angeles, I haven’t actually found my spot yet. But I will.

Favorite spa treatment?

I love getting lymphatic drainage massages and facials. Often they can mix that up with deep tissue on the body and hydration on the face which covers all bases for me. I suffer from water retention pretty easily so this is a great way to help me process toxins and drop some water weight. Plus it feels amazing. Deep tissue is sometimes needed to really help ease my back and legs out if I have been working out a lot.

Favorite tip/advice for skincare?

Drink lots of water and limit the amount of sugar you take in. I think sugar in your diet is very aging. And don’t frown. Smile and do lots of meditation to help you relax. If you are genuinely relaxed you will look younger. We all carry around so much stress without even realizing how tightly wound we are. When you do yoga or meditation you really notice how much you are holding onto and can begin to let go a little. This will show in your face. I have people in my life who seem to be getting younger over the years thanks to meditation, and that is proof enough for me!
