Five Ways To Relieve Eczema and Extremely Dry Skin from the Creator of California Baby

We all know that daily cleansing and moisturizing are essential ways to care for your skin. But for those who suffer from extremely dry skin or eczema, a relaxing bath can turn into a dry and itchy affair. Eczema is very common in babies, usually disappearing as they enter childhood. Unfortunately, many children who outgrow eczema tend to have it reappear in adulthood. Below are a few easy ways to get back on the path to baby-soft skin at any age!

Check Your Water – Bathing in chlorinated tap water strips the skin of its natural oils and can lead to itching and scaling. Using a shower filter to remove chlorine can be helpful in preventing further irritation.

Beat The Heat – Keep your thermostat on the cool side and lower the temperature of your bath water. High temperatures can cause eczema to flare up.

Choose Gentle Cleansers – Harsh cleansers strip skin of its natural oils, leaving it more susceptible to irritants and dryness.

Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize – When you, or your child, steps out of the shower, don’t towel off those magical, moisturizing water droplets! Trap them next to the skin with a lotion or super-rich cream.
